Are you hearing what God is saying to you?
Are you listening to Holy Spirit?
What has become stagnant in your walk with the Lord…
I know I used to pray more knowing some of the requests needed from God’s people but lately my prayers have been lacking.
God has called me, to rise up and I love God and only want to please Him, bringing glory to His throne. I have been whispered to by the Holy Spirit, I have also been guided by hearing words of encouragement and reading scripture realizing I have fallen short in this very important precious area as a follower. These moments I have sort of sluffed off from the Lord I know since I am a mature follower of the Lord I need to step it up and set a better example about praying, I know when I settle into my intimate praying time with the Lord our connection is strongly enhanced. When we pray to our Heavenly Father, we gain His knowledge and His wisdom more clearly and power comes from the Word of God. We not only need to spend time in the Word of God we need to be praying.
Song of Songs 2:10 NIV. My lover spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me.”
Forgive me Lord for being mediocre in prayer. I have not been praying like I used to pray, continuously. God You know this and I pray Lord help me pray fervently and continuously again, maybe I am being hard on myself but I feel truly in my heart our connection has been off and scripture says that Jesus You are the same yesterday today and forever so I am the one who adjusted our intimate walk, I want to seek You more Lord help me see the burning bush You so graciously gifted to Moses, help me hear Your voice. Lord help me to settle in the bathtub at least once a week for You know this forces me to turn everything off around me and forces me to let go and be still and know that You are God, when I am covered in the water You are ultimately covering me in Your love, I always get a Word from You there and when I can completely stop and wait for You, You are my portion. Thank You Lord for never changing and allowing me to notice my praying was becoming stagnant. Plead the Precious Blood of Jesus over me and this area in our walk, in Jesus name, Amen.
Hebrews 13:8 NIV. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
I used this example in my life to be truthful with you and so you know just because I am following God’s calling on my life I still have things that aren’t always ship shape or tip top…I struggle too, this is one thing I should have been aware of sooner but I’m glad this prayer piece to my life’s puzzle was found fairly early. I knew something was different with my walk with the Lord and so I asked God.
John 14:26 NIV. But the Counselor the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you.
Okay so maybe you don’t have to fully soak in the bathtub to hear from God, maybe you can take a walk and He gives you a Word, or you can just sit and wait, whatever you need to do to just STOP and be still in the Lord’s presence DO IT. I don’t always need to run a bath to get quiet for the Lord but sometimes it is just what I need to do.
Exodus 33:14 NIV. The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
When we stop, we can hear and when we can hear from God we can focus on what is truly important in or lives and this time for me, I need to pray deeper again, yes I do pray a lot but I just haven’t been praying fervently (or passionately) enough.
Jeremiah 33:3 NIV. Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
3 Keys to overcoming a stagnant follower’s way of life: (example: can be prayer is lacking, worship is at a low, reading scripture is at a stand-still…and so on).
Psalm 16:11 NIV. You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
#1 Ask God, notice what He has brought to your attention to change. * Prayer is lacking, * Worship is low, or * Reading scripture is at a stand-still.
#2 *Prayer, or *Worship – Example: When prayer is lacking, or worship is at a low, find scriptures to teach you about why prayer, or worship is so important. *Reading scripture is at a stand-still, find an audio version and just listen to someone reading the Bible to you. Push yourself to also find scriptures as to why reading the Bible for yourself is so important.
#3 Incorporate what you learned to strengthen any of these areas, and start Praying continuously, Worship even when you don’t feel like it and Read your bible even if it’s just 1 verse.
Prayer - Philippians 4:6&7 NIV. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanks giving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Worship – Psalm 100:2 NIV. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
Scripture – Psalm 119:105 NIV. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
Heavenly Father God I pray that any of us who sometimes struggle during our walk with you that the struggles don’t go unnoticed please bring these low, lacking or stand-stills to our attention so we don’t suffer going through this life with any stagnant inability, since You are our Almighty God we look to You but when we come up against something blocking our view I pray our heart ears are opened still, always to receiving any Word You have for all of us. I pray nothing can block the goodness You have for us. I pray we become powered up in You alone Lord for nothing else can. In Jesus name, Amen.
