40 – Days and 40 – Nights of temptation Jesus endured with the enemy pressing into him to get him off track with what God’s purpose for Jesus’s life was to fulfill, don’t allow temptation to get you off track to what God has for you to, stay focused in the word of truth stay focused on God’s plan for you and follow Jesus’s examples he laid out for you.

Matthew 4:4 NIV Jesus answered, “it is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” The enemy even quoted scripture to Jesus trying to derail him. Matthew 4:6 NIV “If you are the Son of God,” he said. “throw yourself down. For it is written: “He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” Jesus answered him, “it is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

The tempting kept coming and Jesus still spoke Matthew 4:10 NIV Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.” Matthew 4:11 NIV Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. When temptations came, the word of God is represented here to show us how to fight off temptations coming our way from the enemy.

Jesus fasts 40-days and 40-nights he stayed tagged to the word of God and focused on God. Jesus suffered through the fast and gained power, while he fasts he depended completely on God, this is so cool cause God wants to handle the stuff we can’t, when the temptations come our way and we suffer through them we need to tag God and stay focused on him to depend completely on God, just like Jesus did. Thank you! Jesus, for teaching us how to withdraw from temptations.

Psalm 147:5&6 NIV Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.

James 1:13-18 NIV When tempted no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. (Warning do not allow temptation to become escalated). Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all created.

1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Hebrews 2:18 NIV Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Hebrews 4:15&16 NIV For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Amen.
