Subject to being led by emotions to make a quick decision, not necessarily the right one, just a decision.
When we face a conflict some-times we want to just shout out loud and other times maybe retaliate and choices made in impulses can be wrong and hurt others even if we don’t really mean to but it happens in quick impulsive decisions.
Imagine just for a moment Jesus walking upon the earth and the trials he faced as he learned to obey step by step always looking to the Father as to where to put his foot next to turn left or right or to keep heading forward toward the Lords ultimate desire and as we day dream of what that looked like I want you to remember the times Jesus stepped away from the crowds and had a refreshing moment with the Lord. If Jesus never stepped away to a solitude place of resting in the Lord he wouldn’t not of stayed focused and be led by impulse instead of the calming voice of God, as we look at the New Testament Jesus went by peace; walked in it, talked in it and decided in peacefulness, not impulsiveness.
I want us to remember Jesus is our example in the way to live in peace always, step away and refill with God walk, talk, and live in peace, not impulse.
Impulse stirs the heart, mind, body, soul, and spirit wild in an uncontrollable manner and God is not an out of control God neither was Jesus and neither are we to be – because we are led by the Holy Spirit were not out of control. We have the Spirit, of peace and a sound-mind. Emotions on impulsive behavior can create problems that would have been easily resolved, but by the impulse it stirs thoughts and thoughts that are not controlled can become trouble. Surround yourself with the love of the Lord – through worship and the Word of truth, prayer and resting in Him who knows best.
God is amazing and we need to remember all the things God has set forth for us we are saved by the blood and Jesus died to give us peace.
In John the story talks about Jesus flipping tables filled with money that ended up in the dirt this story is neat because the scripture doesn’t say Jesus raised his voice in an impulsive way even though the people were taking money for tax’s in dishonest ways and also turned the temple court into a market and the money was not as important as the dirt on the ground that the money ended up landing on, Jesus stayed in control of His manners, He was still able to get His point across without calling the people out or down and without impulsively shouting and throwing the tables he simple flipped the tables over and said: John 2:16 NIV. To those who sold doves he said. “Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father’s house into a market!” Jesus could have breathed fire on them in impulsive rage as this was awful. We breath fire on those who get our blood boiling ‘per-say’, when we get stirred up in emotional impulse, we can really let people have it, so be careful as to not let yourself get out of control with impulse.
(standing at the checkout line in the grocery store, there are all these so called treats; candies, chocolates, chips, etc… do you really need that chocolate bar or because you are standing there impatiently waiting to be wrung through you impulsively grab the bar and after, you tell yourself I really didn’t need that bar, impulse got you and now your second guessing yourself and know you should not of ate it, emotional distress… Being led by peace and knowing it wasn’t a grab just because ordeal you could have enjoyed the chocolate bar in peace…lol).
2 Timothy 1:7 NIV. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline.
Proverbs 8:19 NIV. My fruit is better than fine gold, what I yield surpasses choice silver.
Colossians 3:15 NIV. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
1 Peter 3:11 NIV. He must turn form evil and do good; he, must seek peace and pursue it.
