Be ‘Desperate’ to make a change.
Hate can be a good thing??? When you are going the wrong path, negative influences come at you and you decide to accept them. When you begin to hate a bad thing, you will drop to your knees and pray to be released from the hold of the negative influences they have on your life.
When you are so done with the same old, same old and you absolutely start to hate what your doing, you will finally change. Hmmm….
Become desperate, for this will enhance your ability to change and in order for a change to take place we need to be desperate enough for God that we change.
Desperation can be good and desperation can be bad either way we need to go to God desperate and pray leaning into the promises of scripture to make a change.
Whether it’s; bad language coming out of your mouth, being rude to people with road rage as you drive, annoyed at your kids because your patience is at an all-time low, you’re having a hard time walking a flight of stairs and you can’t stand it any longer. All these things that come up in life are hard sometimes. But when are we going to make a change? I’m thinking that when you finally hate something so much and become so desperate the change will come, you can’t stand being uncomfortable any longer you will decide to make a difference in yourself, finally choosing health over a cupcake and washing your mouth out with soap (okay I’m kidding) but maybe not, cleanse your mouth, pray and bless the next person that cuts you off driving because you remember no one is perfect and neither are you.
Colossians 3:7&8 NIV. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must rid yourself of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Matthew 15:11 NLT. It’s not that what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.
Kneel before God and ask for patience for your kids, we can’t do stuff on our own strength, go to Father God. Your mindset has to change. The mind is a strong tool that overpowers the body and some decisions aren’t always correct, we need a clear guide from God to put the right foot in front of the other or ask even for our taste-buds to change so we can decide the healthier way. He’s Almighty and Loves us, He will help us along when we give over what we cannot help for ourselves, when we become desperate and hate what we are doing.
Proverbs 8:17 NIV. I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
Sometimes too much of a good thing is not a good thing. Just because it tastes great doesn’t mean it’ll feel great later… I remember eating fresh foods ‘God made foods’ for a while, and when I decided to dabble or should I say gobble down many goodies (sweets of any kind) after it became not a pretty sight to see ☹.
1 Corinthians 6:19&20 NIV. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
When the bible encourages us to treat others how we want to be treated: road rage is not on the list, when we run thin on patience, ask God to give us patience, let’s not take things out on our little ones because we are at an all-time low, and when our mouths are dirty find the verses that help clean them up, when we eat the wrong thing and feel yucky after, ask God to change us from the inside out.
God designed us for His glory these negatives don’t glorify Him.
Philippians 4:8 NIV. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.
Ephesians 4:2 NIV. Be completely humble and gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in Love.
Lord, I pray and thank you for making us in your image. I Pray that we will all be clearly guided your way and I thank you Lord for the desperation of __________ to change. Help me stay close to you so I will not fall into this trap again for I am desperate for you Lord and only want what’s right and good for my life. Plead the Precious Blood of Jesus over all, In Jesus name, Amen.
