Emotional Roller Coaster…

Ever been on a ride you’d like to stop and get off of?

Been in a situation where you’d like to just shut your mouth but you seem to keep talking?

Or maybe this is where the saying “I really put my foot in my mouth on that one, whoops!?”

Well emotions can do all these things to us from time to time and let me tell you it sucks when you cannot go back and change what you said or how you took over a perfectly great opportunity to fellowship with other sand suddenly the coaster rips around another corner and now the top of the hill and the zoom down is going to be terrible…well this happened to me the other day, I allowed my flesh to lead and I really didn’t even mean to every-time I spoke I made it about me why? My emotions were running higher than high and I let them lead I was caught strapped in on the emotional roller coaster that would not stop.

Let’s navigate how we can adjust this emotional mess I found myself in…

First admit the wrong, apologize and change the approach for next time

-        Admitting to a mistake is half of it, remember we cannot tame the tongue so we need to be patient and silent more when emotions arise to allow Holy Spirit to intervene because we also know God is not pushy so when we pause and wait for His response its an invitation into our lives once again for Him to pour into. Warning the enemy is pushy so when emotions are high, he will use you in a selfish way to get your emotions running wild, this is why the Lord gives us peace not as the world but John 14:27 Peace I leave you with; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

-        Apologize it takes a brave person to say sorry and admit their wrong. The fruits of the Spirit should always lead especially if we know better. Since I do, ill learn from this and it is a great teaching moment to help other discover Holy Spirit on another level. Galatians 5:22&23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

-        Realize a change needs to take place to stay on course and off of an ‘emotional roller coaster’ that keeps going faster and faster and faster. When emotions are high and we don’t take a breath to wait upon the Lord this is where it all gets out of hand, so we shoulder each-others burdens yes but we don’t need to keep the emotional record spinning. Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.

Boundaries are so important God used boundaries in the beginning of all creation (the waters know their course and He allowed them to go only so far otherwise we’d be completely in water all the time instead the water knows its zone). Jesus used boundaries too He knew when the times were to fill up with our Heavenly Father and He made time to soak in the presence of God often. Holy Spirit knows boundaries as well otherwise we would be robotic type beings and have no choices and this would be demonic instead of a Spirit lead out of love we’d be in a trance set out by the enemy, controlled, condemned, dark, we prefer the Holy Spirit one send from God as a gift out of pure love.

Thank You! Heavenly Father for forgiving me in all the bad decisions I choose, when I repent You forgive as far as the east is from the west. I especially ask for forgiveness in not allowing room for the Holy Spirit to always have the first response in my life for I know You know what’s best and I ask that those who are unsure of what they are doing, where they’re going, that they’ll pause and wait upon You. I never want to run ahead of You, help me hear from You first, help me to pause be silent and help my mouth honor You and not myself I humbly ask in Your name for direction and clarity and for all Your Saints Lord help us all honor You first and be patient and wait upon You. In Jesus name, Amen.

Psalm 9:9 The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

James 3:17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
