How often do you find yourself here?
I find myself wrestling with this often, that’s for sure.
So how do we commit to being content?
Well, first I truly believe that we need to take every opportunity that the Lord blesses us with - with an utmost honest heart and full trust in that He knows what is best for us and we don’t. I know this can come across as blunt but sometimes that’s what it takes for us to embrace our Lord moments and when we settle in being still and knowing that He is God and always has our best interests in mind we can be rest assured we are in great hands and show up wholeheartedly.
Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect, the word of the lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.
Secondly, the more time you spend with the God the less room you have to fill in the spaces with worldly pulls, busyness, distractions and stimulations that leave you empty. God is the only One who can fill us properly with Soul quenching sustenance. For we do not live on bread alone but the Word of God.
Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written; ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
And third, new habits... start a new way to walk with God. Today I have decided to fill in a new Bible, mine has been well lived in and to refresh I figured the other translations I have laying around the house that I do refer to from time to time need more attention and this way I can still love in my well-worn Bible but I can also get new perspectives with fresh pages needing to be caressed and deeply keep falling in love with Father God.
1 Timothy 6:6 Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.
Gather your thoughts with the Lord, lean in and discover your true contentment in and through Him, He is the way the truth and the life.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Heavenly Father thank You for Your Word. Bless our opportunities Lord and if they are not from you close the doors, help each one of us to clear up more space in our lives to be filled by You, I pray we can establish new habits that glorify You. You give us life in abundance help us all to see where we are wasting it, where we can remove the distractions and replace them with You. In Jesus name, Amen.
