Call me ‘Cap’…

There was this cool part in the movie ‘Captain Marvel’, well maybe 2…

#1 Deep inside she found strength she never knew ever existed, she always thought her ability was because someone else or other tools, were the source she needed to become equipped for the power she gained when the program was installed in her. All she really had to do, was, focus on finding out that deep inside of herself, she had what it took to be all powerful.

#2 The most powerful of the ‘Avengers’ she is a ‘GIRL’. (that’s totally really cool). Just saying…

I know this is only a ‘Comic’ "entertainment" for people to watch, but as a little girl she ‘Never gave up’. Driving a go - cart she’d wipe out and while kicking up dust and eating dirt she would get up over and over again to try to prove she was able. 'Never giving up'.

I was always determined a fighter and had a don’t stop till you conquered attitude, a give it your all character, I’d give it my all and still if I didn’t quite succeed I’d push past my limits and dig down deep to find whatever I needed to reach that goal. 'Never to give up'.

I am bringing this to your attention because ‘Captain Marvel’ – all powerful cause she’s a character who plays a part, no one is that powerful in real life, and sometimes it’s not about just throwing our hands up in the air and say God, do this or that, help me with this or change that, because He’s all powerful – HE is. Job 33:4 NIV. The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

So, when we have to dig down deep (Who dwells within you? 1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV. Do you not know that you are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you. You find your ability to accomplish the task in God; now if you are trying, God can and will deliver you but if you aren’t doing everything you can to accomplish the task why should God. (Just so were clear it’s not about worldly possessions, it’s about Godly possessions). Hebrews 13:21 NLT. May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen. God created us to have the ability to accomplish much and when we sit by and just bark orders in prayers for Him to answer, it does nobody any good. God is a ‘Good’ - God and ‘Almighty’ yes, but there’s a time and a place for everything.

Example #1: A young child has a coloring book and crayons, but is fussing and crying about not wanting to color it and contradictory wants to color, if the child doesn’t color the picture, it won’t get colored.

Example #2: An adult is driving their car and all of a sudden it quits because they didn’t put gas in the tank, now there angry and frustrated but there the one who should have put gas in the tank.

Example #3: Someone is praying to become better at a sport, but they never go out and play. Yes, its right to pray about everything but if you don’t also put in the effort, how are you going to be better at the sport.

My encouragement is this when you are on your journey with the Lord and keep asking and praying for all these things for God to do, you know, you really, have to put in the effort for things to change.

Example #4 You struggle with something like an addiction to alcohol and you know keeping it in the house is a weakness for you and you can’t stop drinking it - take it out of the house, get rid of it, don’t buy it.

Example #5 You have a sweet tooth and the doctor has warned you time and time again your body can’t tolerate the sugar but you keep buying candy and consuming it, don’t buy it.

Example #6 You have a smoking habit, this is an addiction and the coping method is, do something else with your time, if you have a coffee break and always go out to the car for a smoke, don’t go out to the car, don’t buy it.

Now all these things are tough habits to break and if they have been practiced over and over, they will be even harder to break but overtime you can stop these addictive behaviors. As long as you decide to not allow them to take over your life any longer you can succeed, and this is when you dig deep within to overcome the pit of alcohol, sugar, smoking, or any other habit you no longer want to have consume you, make up your mind and be determined to rise above, when it becomes overwhelming and you have nothing left to gain any more momentum from this is when God can move in giving you power and strength to get you through. Sometimes, honestly, it’s our dig deep within ourselves that’s the choice and decision ‘No More’ and other time’s we need to call upon the name of the Lord to get us through, somethings we can accomplish when we put our minds to doing it and other times, God is the only One who can pull us through.

I know we all have strength within that we just need to dig for sometimes and as this movie reminded me that just because I have gone through stuff and been knocked down a time or two and lost sight of my abilities to get over barriers I can push in hard enough to find that ‘Never Give Up’ attitude, again. This goes for us being able to get back on the horse after being bucked off (you decide), and keeping up your relationship with the Lord that no matter what, you, will dig deep and find out you are strong enough or dig deep and find out that when you have given it your all, God can.

2 Timothy 3:16 & 17 NLT. 16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Lord, I pray that when we have given it our all to quit bad habits and we have no more momentum in us to crawl forward, you will provide us with what we need to keep going, moving past our addiction. Lord, I pray that when we have exhausted all of our strength and can’t seem to get it together, we call upon Your name Lord and you pull us through. As the scripture says Psalm 50:15 NLT. Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory. I thank you that we can call on You. Plead the Precious Blood of Jesus over us Lord, in Jesus name, Amen.

2 Chronicles 15:7 NIV. But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.
