Baptism…
Jesus’s birth is to be celebrated.
Christmas is around the corner and is misinterpreted, so I wanted to touch on what Jesus has done for all of us. Born our ‘Savior’.
Baptism is an important key and an important step of obedience, but also a gift especially for each and every one of us, a gift that speaks truth to us and connects us to God.
Before I was baptized I never really realized the importance of it and the change it could perform over me, the making of a new self. I took a year or so after being baptized in water, to soak in the word of God to truly and in a more receptive and understanding way learn about him. Spending time reading the bible was as if I was being baptized in the word I gained a real closeness to my Heavenly Father.
When Jesus asked John to baptize him, John was like "no way", you are the ‘One’ who should baptize me, “I am not even worthy enough to stoop down and untie your sandals for you should baptize me. Mark 1:7 NIV And this was his message: “After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.
John baptized Jesus with water but as the bible says Mark 1:8 NIV I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
Jesus did not start out to fulfill his purpose until he was baptized, Jesus knew he needed the guidance of and counsels of the Holy Spirit, and so do we.
So with the birth of Jesus being its December created to become our Savior he exampled our way in which we should go, he set examples out for us to follow, we will never completely fill Jesus’s sandals all the way but it is our purpose to try. Out of love and compassion for us our Heavenly Father gave us a walking testament of our purpose, with our bible in hand we have a road map to navigate through life. We are interpreters of Jesus so let’s make our Father proud of us and wear off on others along the way, as we look the part as an example of love, the way Jesus did.
This is the importance of baptism we can’t fully do our part unless we wash away ones old self to put on our new self and accept the Holy Spirit, we were never created for ourselves we were created for God.
