1 Step Behind…

It’s a great place to be when it’s one step behind our Heavenly Father, seeing his hand upon our lives with the unfolding of miracles.
A play by play or pieces being put together; scriptures in the bible formed together and stood on for answered prayers, being able to see moment by moment answers to our prayers from such a loving God.
My husbands’ mom and dad had just gotten gas moments after power outages occurred on the island, prior to them boarding the ferry this storm brewed and managed to stop the ferry from leaving the island for 24 hours the ferry had stopped. The winds were fierce and the water rocked. We prayed for God to calm the waters as it says in Mark 4:39 NIV He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Well, that’s exactly what happened, the winds died down and the waters were calm. The ferry they were scheduled to go on at 5:00 pm sailed. Praise the Lord.
Arriving at the airport was another obstacle. Can a flight plan continue without power? The airport had a complete power outage, again we stood on Gods word Matthew 18:19 &20 NIV “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” As we all prayed for God’s hand to be upon this whole situation, and for us to look past the circumstances and trust God would want to bring the whole family together for Christmas in our agreement. God heard our prayers and answered them every step of the way.
2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV We live by faith not by sight. Their plane landed safely at home, thank you Lord.
They were to come for supper and as a snow storm took over, we prayed again for safe travels, Jeff’s brother and wife were picking them up at the airport and planned to also stay for supper. The travel home was slow. They had seen lots of vehicles in the ditches on the way. I was surprised when they all stayed for supper after their snowy drive. (Maybe it was the lasagna we had prepared? Yummy good…) Anyway it was a blessing, and another answer to our prayers that we could enjoy this meal together.
About a week before, I was strongly prompted to pray about our family Christmas, about everyone coming and about just asking God to have His hand upon this week leading up; the preparations, the food, safe traveling, and praying Gods presence would be visible to all, that He would be noticed and blessings would be upon everyone, a covering for everyone to feel good and be of good health. I am thankful for listening prior to this Christmas gathering. God definitely heard my prayers and our prayers through and through, it also showed my children how important it is to stand together in prayers and believe and trust that God not only can but will be there for us along the way and answer our needs.
1 John 5:14 & 15 NIV This is the confidence we have in approaching God: if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us –whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of him.
When a circumstance comes our way, stay the course, look to God for guidance and help ask him for direction. Keep your eyes fixed upon him, do not underestimate the power of God. He will come through for you every time.
